Central Switzerland Nature Photography

Central Switzerland nature photography from the alpine foothills that form the geographic heart and historical origin of the country — the cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Lucerne and Zug. Known locally as Zentralschweiz, this is a landscape of drumlin hills, reed-fringed lakes and quiet nature reserves such as Vogelmoos and the Mühlau lakeshore, all within sight of the Alps. The gallery follows the region through the seasons: red squirrels and dormice in the woods, foxes and hares in the meadows, storks, red kites, great egrets and cormorants over the wetlands, and smaller finds — a lizard on a warm rock, a frog, purple loosestrife in bloom. Much to see, and much to enjoy.
